Display

Although OLED screens are renowned for having practically endless black levels, it was the colors—rather than the contrast—that caught my attention on this one.The G6 covered 98 percent of the DCI-P3 colour space according to my Spyder X2 Ultra test, but the results were so near that I wouldn’t be shocked if it could get closer to 99 percent in the right studio settings.

This indicates that it’s a fantastic choice for professional design work in addition to being a stunning monitor. Because DaVinci Resolve has the best color-grading suite in the business, I occasionally use it for video editing, but when I try to grade film, my monitor’s limitations frequently get in the way. If my display has significantly more colour distortion than my film, then no amount of sophisticated spectrograms will be of any use to me.

I was happy to find that this monitor was great for everything, even though I had anticipated it being a display I would feel comfortable using for writing and gaming. Because of the vibrant colour scheme, even viewing YouTube felt a little more immersive. The brightness of the display can reach up to 1,000 nits for HDR content, which makes it an excellent choice for desk-based work or viewing films from a distance. Normally, the monitor can only display roughly 250 nits of brightness.

The G6 pleased me even though it doesn’t have the most sophisticated quantum dot OLED displays compared to some of the phones I’ve tried recently. Compared to other gaming monitors I’ve tested, it is the smoothest, most accurate, and easiest to set up. It would be useful for media projects, work, and play, and it’s rare to find a monitor that excels in all three areas. However, Samsung succeeded.
